Paul is the Managing Director of Metropolitan Venture Partners (www.metvp.com) a New York and London based venture capital firm. Paul has spent the last seven years assisting early-stage companies and operating his own independent ventures in the areas of technology, “bricks and mortar” and not-for-profit operations. His work experience has spanned across all functions of business from model development, strategic partnerships, market opportunity assessment, fundraising and overseas expansion. Over his years of working with early stage businesses, Paul has developed a rich and expansive network for sourcing proprietary deals and creating opportunities for Metropolitan to invest. Prior to Metropolitan, he worked as a business development, strategic planning and financial consultant to a variety of companies. Paul was one of the founders of WebYes, a web development firm, that he helped to make cash flow positive and was later acquired by Breakaway Solutions (NASD:BWAY). During this time, Paul also received angel financing to develop a self-conceived technology that focused on reducing noise pollution in urban areas. After researching and developing the concept in conjunction with noise-abatement non-profit groups, engineers and patent attorneys, Paul sought and secured a technology patent (US Patent # 6,271,746). Paul’s additional work experience includes an "Entrepreneur in Residence" position at Savarona Venture Capital, strategic consulting for a range of traditional businesses at the Wharton Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and three years as an analyst for Lazard Freres Asset Management High Yield Debt team which was ranked in the top decile among its sector peer group. While at Lazard, Paul analyzed 250 debt offerings, many of them technology and/or leveraged buyout transactions. Paul further co-founded and served as executive Vice-Chairman of the Xenium Foundation, a 501(c) (3) incorporated not-for-profit organization with over 1,200 members that benefits youth and education in New York City. While actively managing the investment, Paul served as Acting CFO of Interocity Development Corporation, a New York based streaming media company. During this time, he worked to build an operating infrastructure, focus the company’s client base and explore a UK expansion before successfully engineering the company’s acquisition by the Chyron Corporation (NYSE: CHY). Paul is a co-founder of Metropolitan. Paul received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, graduated from Phillips Academy Andover and studied in the UK as an English Speaking Union Fellow.
